Composites

ZYEX multifilament and staple fibres are used as sources of the final matrix material in thermoplastic composites. Intimately mixed with carbon fibres, at normally between 40% and 60% by weight, the ZYEX fibres melt and coat the reinforcement fibres in the consolidation stage, encasing and protecting the carbon in the final rigid composite. The textile route allows the prepreg to have excellent drape characteristics.

In addition to advanced aerospace components, lightweight surgical tools and other medical devices are being manufactured, taking advantage of PEEK's excellent inherent cleanliness and biocompatability.
