Aerospace Braids
ZYEX is specified for use in aerospace braids designed to protect electrical wiring from abrasive damage especially at extemes of temperature. In specialist areas in automotive and nuclear intallation wiring PEEK monofil braids have also been used sucessfully. In any enclosed situation when toxic fumes from burning wiring could pose a threat to life PEEK as part of a cable covering is ideal.
This is an area where ZYEX products are often pigmented to assist identification.
Racquet Strings
ZYEX as a racquet string component has been widely patented and is used by many of the leading producers of tennis, squash and racquet-ball strings.
The major advantages are associated with the material's low dynamic stiffness allowing it to deform and recover more completely than other synthetic materials. It also can be made to have exceptionally low creep under continuous tension - allowing racquets to maintain their playability longer
Music strings
ZYEX as a component of some music strings has been shown to provide a subtle but appreciable fuller tone than is achieved with other synthetic string materials such as nylon. It also stays in tune very much longer on a guitar or violin than is possible with other conventional music string.
Protected by a patents, PEEK based products are now widely available in this market.
Sewing treads
Sewing threads made using a range of ZYEX multifils are marketed for specialist applications.
These include industrial protective clothing and footwear where a combination of chemical and abrasive conditions present a challenge and also in the sewing of filter seams and edge reinforcement strips on conveyor fabrics.
